The Bortolin family started winemaking in the 1980s. In 1997, Gianfranco Bortolin and his wife Viviana set up their own winery under the brand name “Le Bertole®”, from the vineyard of the same name that produces Cartizze, located in Saccol, a hamlet of Valdobbiadene.

The De Stefani family originates from Refrontolo, a small hill town in the Veneto region of Italy, as recorded in official documents dating back to 1624.
